How is the rating calculated?

Very simple: only empires within the top 500 of each game are counted. An empire adds as many points to its rating as 500 minus its position, so the winner gets 500 points, the second gets 499 and so on down to 1 point for the empire in five-hundredth position.

Plus a bonus of +1000 points for 1st place, +900 for 2nd, +800 for 3rd, +700 for 4th, +600 for 5th, +500 for 6th, +400 for 7th, +300 for 8th, +200 for 9th and +100 for 10th place.
