History

Cousins of the dwarves, the duergar are ill-tempered creatures who detest intruders in their underdark realms, but have a special hatred for their closest surface kin.

In combat, duergars formerly fired crossbows from a distance, then switched to the warhammer, but nowadays they wield ferociously sharp mithril axes. If outnumbered, or the threat (and space) is sufficient, a duergar will use its courage skill and begin to attack its enemies with intimidating ferocity no matter what lies ahead.
