History
Most Dwarves prefer to have their feet on the ground or preferably underneath. The brave and reckless pilots of these crazy contraptions gather to form their own distinctive regiments. But because of their high cost, the maintenance of the machines comes from the royal treasury funds; and, because of this, this elite unit is known as the Royal Flying Corps.
Gyrocopters are devices capable of flight thanks to rotating blades powered by an ingenious lightweight steam engine. These machines can land and take off vertically in a very small space and can pass over mountain peaks without worrying about what lies below and even hover in the air above a point. Gyrocopters were invented by the Engineers Guild and are kept by its member Engineers, although it took centuries for the airships to be accepted by the more conservative Dwarves. Although originally used to fly over difficult mountainous terrain and drop supplies and messages on besieged settlements, the gyrocopter was soon tested, with great success, on the battlefield.
